Dream Wedding Birthday Party!

My daughter had her wedding birthday party planned for months and there was no talking her out of it! Confession: I tried to talk her out of it simply because I had no idea how to go about throwing a wedding birthday party for a six year old and her friends. Also, she had her mind set on inviting just one boy to this party and I started panicking at the thought of my six year old getting married already 🙂

A wedding themed birthday party turned out cuter and easier than I thought it would! My daughter and I compromised on having a “girls only” party where we’d do all the girly things similar to a bridal shower party. The girls had so much fun and I’ve never seen my little girl so happy. Her dream wedding party became a reality. Seeing her dressed as a beautiful bride and live her dream was so fun!

Wedding Birthday Invitations

First off were the birthday invitations. Would you believe me if I said I drew up these wedding dresses and cut them out myself? I am no artist but I somehow managed to make these look decent. I just typed up the text 2 to a page and made a master cut-out that I traced each time. I hot glued a ribbon and topped it with a flower sticker that I found at Michaels. Very inexpensive and cute!

Decorations and Party Favors

The easiest part of this wedding themed party was the decor. Luckily my mom helped plan 2 weddings last year so she had all the things for me to borrow. I loved this welcome sign we put out front to greet my daughter’s guests. I think it made the girls feel so special that they were invited to a fancy event!

Each girl went home from the party with a bag of wedding goodies:

  • White wedding mints
  • White beaded necklace
  • Bubbles
  • Engagement ring
  • Bouquet of flowers they each arranged
  • Mirror that they used to do their makeup
  • Polaroid picture from the photo booth with the “bride”

Wedding Party Themed Games and Activites

When the guests arrived we had each of them choose 5 flowers which I found in bunches from the dollar store. I cut them out so they could use them individually and make an arranged bouquet. We tied them with a ribbon. Easy and inexpensive too!

Next we went to the “salon” station and did our makeup and nails. I found these amazing mirrors at the dollar store that they each took home. It was so cute watching them apply their own eyeshadow and lipstick. We helped them paint their nails. They all felt so pretty and fancy!

It wouldn’t be a wedding party with a bouquet toss! The girls thought this was so fun. Another game idea is to play “ring, ring, who’s got the ring?” (button, button, who’s got the button game) We ran out of time for this one but that would’ve been fun too!

It wouldn’t be a party for my Layla without some dancing. Freeze dance is always a favorite. I played Michael Buble’s love album throughout the party. It was perfect!

After games we opened presents. The girls were so proper and quiet during presents which I had never seen before! They were so darling!

Wedding Birthday Cake

For the cake, I made a double layer round cake. A couple years ago I bought this cake stand that we use for every birthday. It’s tradition now I guess! I made a simple vanilla cake with buttercream frosting. I found a pearl cake trim that I used around the entire cake. On the top we sprinkled every inch with edible pearl sprinkles. The Wedding Barbie set was just the “icing on the cake.” She is obsessed with her new barbies!

I stepped in to help cut the cake with the same knife my husband and I cut our wedding cake with! The girls thought this was so exciting and couldn’t wait to get their hands on this cake. I tried to talk Layla into letting me smash cake into her mouth but that didn’t fly…

This party was all my daughter’s idea and it was such a blast! I love my little bride and her hopeless romantic heart. She is the most beautiful six year old I know – inside and out! It was a magical day. These pictures are going to be so adorable in her wedding slideshow. It was so special seeing her dressed up like a bride but I think I can wait another 15+ years for the real deal. I want her to stay little forever!

Love my Layla girl!
